Hey there and welcome back to What If It All Goes Right, the podcast where we break through the doubts, push past the impossible and create momentum in every part of our lives. Today we're gonna dive into part six of the What If It All Goes Right series and this one is a big one. And now let's do a quick recap of where we've been so far. And if you haven't listened to these other parts of the series, I highly suggest you go back. This is gonna really, blends and works together. So R was.
We recognize and felt our emotions. didn't brush them under the rug. We gave them space, but we didn't let them define identified what we can actually want and what we have control of. Not just what we think we should want, but what we truly lights us up and what we do have control of. we've created our game plan. We didn't just dream about it. We mapped it out in steps to get there. We really made it much more tangible in order to map it out. And we put ourselves as the priority first. And H,
Now we talk about holding onto the adaptable mindset because here's the thing, even with the best plan, things are not going to go perfectly. you're going to hit walls. You're going to feel like quitting. You're going to have moments where self doubt or creeps in and whispers. Maybe this really isn't for you. Maybe you should just stop. And this, this is the hallway between that closed door and the open one. This is the hallway that I talk about so often in my keynotes, the hallway that is dark. It is uncertain. You're not quite sure.
If you're going the right way, you don't even know where you're going. But the only way you don't make it through is you quit walking. So today is all about radical adaptability, about holding onto the mindset, staying flexible and continuing forward no matter how messy or uncertain that it feels. So let's get into it. So I want you to picture something for a second. You're standing at one door. It closes behind you.
You know another door will open ahead, right now you're in the hallway and it's dark. You don't know how long it is. You don't know where the next door is or what it even looks like. That hallway. That's where most people quit. Because it's uncomfortable. Because the unknown is scary because we've been conditioned to believe that if we can't see the exact path, it must not be the right one. I've been on that hallway more times than I can count.
tearing my ACL on national television, I was in that hallway. When I shut down my gym, I had completely rebuilt my career, I was in the hallway. When I launched my pull-up program and I had months where sales were literally not coming in, I was in the hallway. And let me tell you, it's easy to feel like the hallway means you're failing.
but It means you're in transition. It means you're growing. It means you're stepping into something new. So how do we not give up when we're in that deep dark hallway? So the first step of this is finding proof. One of the most important ways to keep going when self-doubt creeps in is to find proof. If someone else has done the thing you are trying to do, it is absolutely possible. So for my women in Polar Prevolution, I show them proof
of women in their 50s, 60s, 70s getting their pull up because if they see someone like them doing it, suddenly it feels possible. And I show them busy women. I show them women of all different sizes, right? Women are always like, I'm too heavy, whatever. If they can see someone else physically do it, they're able to see that proof for themselves. For corporate leaders, if you're facing massive restructuring at work, find someone who has navigated change successfully before and look at how they adapted and pushed through it.
for you. Think back to a time when you thought something was impossible, but you did it. You've already proven to yourself that you can handle challenges. You've already pushed through things that you thought would break you. You have proof that you were capable of adapting and moving forward. I you to write down that proof. For me, when I came back from my ACL, what really was so helpful was going online and Googling because, my doctor was like, you're not going to able to come back from this ACL tear. This is a career ending injury, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I was like, I'm just going to Google and go online and see.
there's anyone else who came back with this. And I started reading stories from football players and all sorts of different athletes who not only came back, but came back and had their strongest year. And let me tell you, that little piece of proof right there, even if I didn't fully believe in that I could do that just yet, was so, helpful. And if you can reflect back also on times in your life where you've pushed through something hard and you've gotten through it, okay, finding that proof.
realizing that you absolutely can overcome challenges. And you already have learned so much from those past challenges that it might actually feel a little bit better this time, a little easier. And believe it or not, when I my ACL, this was actually the second ACL tear I had. I don't typically fully tell this whole story about the first ACL, but I tore my ACL, my left one in college, my right one, I can't remember which one, but I tore it in college. So when I tore it again, I was pissed. I was so pissed.
And my friend, Jess, who also had something similar happen to her with an ankle surgery, she's like, I had both my ankles, same thing. She was like, you're so much more well equipped to handle it the second time, because you've been there before, you've gotten through it, and yet, sucks, but you can get through it even better this time. Of course, I didn't believe her at first, and then we did it, and I was like, okay, well, we got this.
Number two is reconnecting with your why. When things get hard, you need something deeper than motivation. You need a why. So for my business, when I have tough moments, when I'm wondering if this whole thing is worth it, and I remember why I do this, I remember the women who tell me, Angela, because of you, I got my first pull-up. Because of you, I feel stronger for the first time in my life. Because of you, I don't feel so alone anymore. Because of you, I'm showing up stronger. My husband is telling me how I'm showing up and I'm...
glowing with confidence. I'm like, that's why I do this. For you, if you're in a tough season, ask yourself, why am I doing this? Is it for freedom you want in life? Is it for the impact you want to make? Is it to prove to yourself that you can? Is it for your family? Is it for the team that you have, the amazing team that you have in your company? You're like, I want to do this for them. I want to uplift us all together so that we can grow together. I you to write down and come back to that why.
And make sure you keep it visible because your why is what keeps you moving when motivation fades. I'm going to say it again because your why is keeping you moving when your motivation fades. You cannot rely on motivation for the stuff that you're doing. You're not always going to be motivated. Yes, you're going to have days where you're like, so motivated, everything's great. But when motivation isn't there, what is going to keep you moving forward? What is going to keep you consistent? What is going to keep you going? You've got to come back to your why.
And step three, I wanna go through this formula. And I've used this confidence formula in my workshops that I've hosted for pull-ups. I use it in my keynote speaking. But confidence isn't something you just magically have, okay? Some people say to me, Angela, how are you so confident? I'm like, girl, am I confident? It's something you build. And the only way you're gonna build it is by taking action, by trying, by learning, by adapting. So in order to use this confidence formula, in order to keep going,
when you're in this dark hallway in between, when you can't see the light and you have no freaking idea what to do. Going through what we just said above, you're gonna borrow that belief. You're gonna find someone who has done it before and remind yourself if they can do it, I can literally do it too. You're gonna continue to always break it down. Break it down in those little pieces, step by step for confidence, right? If you're again, trying to think of this whole full end goal, it's gonna be super overwhelming. Can you think of that first step that you can do today? Something super simple that you can do.
to give you that little boost that you might need by trying.
Visualizing it, picturing yourself already succeeding at it, feeling what that feels like. Again, we go through that in the other steps. But you need to try, you need to learn, adjust, and repeat. I'm gonna say it again, you're gonna try. Because the only way you're gonna get confident is by trying no matter what, even if you have no freaking idea where you're going. You're gonna learn from it.
You're always gonna learn.
you're gonna adjust that radical adaptability. You're gonna radically adapt to whatever it is that's not going right, And you're gonna keep repeating that cycle because the only way to build confidence is through action. The only way to build confidence is by moving. It's not by staying still. You try, you learn from it, you adjust, and you go again. So like I said, for my women working on their pull-ups because they even...
attempt one rep, then they do a woman dance party and they shake it off, they step into their strong, confident, ulterior ego and they go for it. Why? Because it primes their brain for success. You can do this too. Shake off the doubt, step into the version of yourself that believes and just try. Just try. You're already doing so much more. You're doing beyond what most people do if you're just even giving it a shot,
Closing thought, I know this is a quick episode and we're gonna continue to go through this series, but I wanna recap. That hauling between the closed and open door is where most people quit, but you're not gonna quit. You're not quitting, you're adapting. You're gonna find proof that success is possible from within yourself or some other people around you, you're gonna borrow that belief from them. You're reconnect with your why when things get tough. And you're gonna use the confidence formula to keep pushing forward because here's the truth.
You don't build confidence by knowing you'll never fail. You build it by knowing you can handle when you do. You don't build confidence by knowing you'll never fail. You build confidence by knowing you can handle it when you do fail. And the only way you won't make it to the other side is if you stop walking. So I want you to keep going. want you to keep adapting. Keep asking yourself, what if it all goes right? What if it's actually already going?
So if this resonated with you, share it, tag me at Angela underscore Gargano and tell me how you're adapting right now.
