Hey there and welcome to What If It All Goes Right? The podcast where we dive into the real raw emotions behind growth, success and showing up as your best self. I'm your host, Angela Gargano and today's episode is all about a feeling I think we all have had at some point. And that's literally feeling behind. Let me set the stage for you. Today I was chatting with one of my closest friends and I admitted to her, I feel like I'm falling behind. I'm surrounded by these incredible women.
who I am so in awe of, and these women are building wildly successful businesses, crushing their goals, navigating relationships with grace, and just going after what they want and getting it. And there's this one friend in particular who seems like everything she touches turns to gold. But here's the thing, it's not because she's lucky or she has some secret eds. This girl works her butt off. She's disciplined, she's focused, she's relentless in pursuing her goals. And that's a reflect on how I was feeling
I started to ask myself, what are they doing differently? How are they showing up? And what can I learn from them to level up? Because I don't want to just keep up. I want to make them proud. I more importantly make myself proud. So today I'm sharing what I learned from these amazing women and how we can all adopt their habits, mindset and approach to life. So let's get into it. So yeah, very real raw moments today. Man, I'm just definitely been in it today.
And honestly, quite frankly, I've definitely felt a behind for a while. I definitely work my butt off. I do all the things, but it's really tough when you're in a spot where you've just now been maybe a year of just feeling like you're stuck and you're behind, even though you're trying and you're feeling like you're trying just as hard as your friends. But now you're almost like just not, not getting there, not getting where I want to be. So I just want to acknowledge that feeling behind is normal.
part of being ambitious and having big goals, but the truth is feeling behind doesn't mean you're not capable. It doesn't mean you're failing. It just means you're comparing your journey to someone else's highlight reel. And while comparison can be tricky, it can also be a source of inspiration for you if you let it.
And yeah, it absolutely can be somebody else's highlight reel. I also feel like, again, to really say this really clearly, like, even if it's not their highlight reel, these women are working their butts off. They're not just sitting there. And definitely a lot of them have definitely been ahead of me in business before. So I'm almost comparing my chapter one to their chapter 12. So I want to reflect on the women that I admire. And I've noticed some key things.
they have in common and these aren't magic traits. They're habits, mindsets, they're actions that literally anyone, myself, can cultivate. So here's what I've learned. They have unshakable discipline. These women don't rely on motivation, they rely on discipline. They show up every day, even when it's hard and even when they do not feel like it.
Seriously, they have a plan and they stick to it. If they decided they were gonna be getting better sleep, like they're not staying out late with their friends, they're leaving the dinner early. They're getting it done, they're putting their head down, they're putting their focus in. When they say they're gonna get a certain amount of steps in, like they're gonna get that steps in even if they have to do it later in the day. They're doing it, they're disciplined. They have the plan, they're sticking to the plan, they're executing it and they're not allowing any kind of feelings that they might have dictating to dictate them.
like worth what's going to happen next. So I want you to ask yourself, what is one habit I can commit to daily And a reminder, discipline isn't about perfection. It's about consistency. And consistency is not perfection, which is where people get a lot of mixed up. Number two, they're laser focused on their goals. They know.
exactly what they're working towards and they do not let distractions derail them. And part of me personally feels like that's maybe where I'm stuck. Like my biggest stuck I think is maybe I don't know exactly what I'm working towards right now. Like I kind of do, right? But like when I'm, you know, was training for a gymnastics or when I was training for a ninja warrior, like I knew exactly what I was training for. Like I was training for that one thing and I feel like...
with where I'm at in my business and my life. I'm not really sure where I wanna go. And when I ask other people, there's opinions, they're like, you have to decide. It's your life and you have to decide. And part of me is just like, can someone just give me the direction? Can someone just tell me where I wanna go? And I'll just put it out here transparently for me. I know my direction. What I would love to do is I wanna have an epic personal brand. I wanna have this podcast just take off. I wanna be...
What if it all goes writing forever? I want to write my book. I want to be on these stages. And I want my business that I have to feel easy and effortless and not like I have to... I mean, literally, what no one tells you about online fitness base is you can have a million followers or, you know, I have like over 80K followers right now. And that doesn't mean that you're going to be making 80K in sales. It's a much harder process than anyone had ever...
no one prepared me for it, no one prepared me for it. So I would love for that to be something that I work towards. I don't really know how to do that, but I'm going to try my very best because it doesn't personally, like with coaching, right, it doesn't matter who you are, how much value, whatever, like you still have to have a sales process. And your girl is so great at cultivating a great community.
I'm great. I like giving my product and like doing an amazing job making sure everyone sees success But man that middle piece It's just so hard Number three, they have a problem-solving mindset. So when things go wrong and they do they do not panic They just adapt they see challenges opportunities and they learn to grow one of the things I wrote on my vision board this year was I'm a master problem solver
Like you can keep getting really frustrated about things going wrong or you can be like, you know what, I'm a problem solver. I'm gonna be able to solve this. So the next time you face a challenge, I want you to ask yourself, what's the opportunity here? How can I solve this creatively? Number four, they truly love what they do. Like here's the kicker, they're not just working hard, they're working on things they love, their passion fuels, their discipline and their focus. It's so much more than the work that they're doing. Like they are so invested in it.
And that's why I'm a little frustrated because I'm like, I'm so invested in my work too. But reflect on what lights you up. Are you spending your time on things that truly matter to you?
It's one thing to be inspired by successful people. It's another to actually take action and apply what you've learned from looking at them. And here's how you can start showing up like the woman you inspire to be, or man if you're a man, let's hang on here. Number one, audit your time. Take a hard look at how you're spending your days. Are you putting time into things that align with your goals or are you getting caught up in distractions? We love a good time audit.
writing out on a piece of paper what you literally did all day, how long it took you, if you literally did nothing all day. And I also think it's good to also put like energy levels how you're feeling energy wise. Build micro habits. Big changes come from small consistent actions. So start by adding one new habit to your routine, something that's gonna really align with your goals. Maybe it's just waking up earlier. I mean, not all the ladies who I'm super obsessed with right now, I guess are waking up at five in the morning, but a good amount of them are.
So maybe it's time to start organizing the morning. Three, surround yourself with the right people. If you're not already surrounded by people who inspire and challenge you, seek them out. You become like the people you spend the most time with. So that brings me hope because I have some pretty amazing people in my life. Embrace imperfection. The women I admire are not perfect. They make mistakes, but they keep going. And they don't let fear of not being perfect stop them from taking action. So do not let that stop you.
So that's how these feelings of falling behind are really something I don't have to have it all figured out right now. What matters is that I'm showing up, I'm learning, I'm taking the steps forward. And I want to be the kind of person who can hang with these amazing women, not because I'm exactly like them, but because I'm bringing my best self to the table. And if you're feeling the same way, like you're behind or like you're not where you want to be yet, I just want you to know you're not alone. And here's what I want you to take away from today. Feeling behind doesn't mean you're failing.
It's an opportunity to reflect, grow and level up. Take inspiration from the people who inspire you, but do not compare to theirs. Focus on discipline, clarity, adaptation and passion. That's how you're going to build a life you're proud of. And if this episode resonated with you, want you to share it with someone who might need a reminder that they're not alone in this journey. And as always keep asking yourself, what if it all goes right? What if it's already going right? What if it's going to be great?
than you ever imagined. I don't know why I'm whispering. Until next time, keep showing up, keep learning, and keep striving to be the best version of yourself. You got this.
