How to Start Acting Like Your Highest Self Right Now

podcast May 28, 2025

I used to hear people say "just show up as the highest version of yourself" all the time, and honestly? I had no idea what that actually meant. How do you embody a version of yourself you've never been before? Especially when you're feeling stuck or disempowered?

I've been wrestling with this question personally as I transition from being a fitness instructor to stepping into my role as a keynote speaker and leader. Sometimes I don't feel like my highest self at all. But here's what I've discovered: you can't step into that powerful version of yourself from a place of feeling powerless.

It Starts with Visualization

The breakthrough came when I realized I needed to feel this future version of myself first. I started doing daily visualizations – imagining myself six months from now, a year from now, three years from now. I picture myself walking into rooms with confidence, making decisions without hesitation, inspiring others simply through the energy I carry.

I even created a recording of myself speaking as my highest self, which I play each morning with high-frequency music. It sounds a little out there, but it works. Your mind starts to believe what you consistently show it.

The Power of Starting Small

Here's the relief I want to give you: you don't need to transform overnight. The highest version of yourself isn't built in a day – they're built through small, consistent actions over time.

Pick one tiny action that aligns with your future self. Maybe it's drinking more water, taking an extra walk, or stopping the doom-scrolling at night. Just one thing. Then get curious about what's working and what isn't, without judgment.

Your Action Plan for Today

  1. Visualize: Take five minutes to imagine your highest self. How do they feel? How do they show up?
  2. Choose one action: Pick something small you can do today that aligns with that version of you.
  3. Reflect daily: Ask yourself, "Did I show up as the person I wanted to be today?" If not, that's okay – what can you do differently tomorrow?
  4. Celebrate wins: Every step forward matters, no matter how small.

I teach pull-ups to women, and it's the perfect metaphor. You don't just magically get your first pull-up – you celebrate showing up to that bar every day and giving it your best shot. Otherwise, you'll push yourself back into that disempowered place.

The Truth About Becoming

Stepping into your highest self isn't about waiting for the perfect moment or having it all figured out. It's about making the choice to start now, even when it's uncomfortable. It's about living by design, not by default.

You have the power to begin today. Start with that visualization. Take that one small action. Trust the process. And always keep asking yourself: what if it all goes right?

Your highest self is already within you – they're just waiting for you to give them permission to emerge.
