I'm getting in my own way 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m getting in my own way... and maybe are have too?

 You know you should be... 

  • Reducing your screen time on social media
  • Getting movement in each day…but instead you just continue to work work work
  • Drinking more water
  • Getting more sunlight
  • Cutting off friends that are just toxic

...but you just aren’t doing any of it 🤷🏻‍♀️... even though you know that if you actually do these things you will live better and have a happier life. 

So why DON’T we JUST DO IT ALREADY? What are we waiting for?

Why is it so hard to just do the "right” thing?

 As I was on a walk the other day I thought to myself, "it’s gotta be a few things..."

  • Self-Sabotage: for some reason, we may not even think we're worth it (whether we are consciously aware of it or not) 
  • Waiting for the “right” or ideal time: My mom is here for the next few days and she’s a teacher. She keeps saying things like, “when I am off in the summer, I will take care of myself," or "when I retire, but not now"
  • Thinking everything else is more important than our well being

 I am saying all these things because I relate. I get nervous that if I stop working or I am not on my game or productive at all times that things will fall apart. When in reality, an hour or two a day to do something for myself will drastically HELP in whatever it is that I am doing.

Here are some uncomfortable things things I am doing this week to start to implement change:

  1. I downloaded this app called Opal. It basically locks you out of social media for designated time AND only allows you to use it for a time that you set. I personally get so distracted with social media being “work" that I find myself kinda in a daze, scrolling through mindlessly and seeing productive hours of my day disappear.
  2. I wrote out WHEN I will get movement in this week in my google calendar, which I am pretty good about, but this time I am also writing in a BREAK in the day to go for a walk and get outside
  3.  I am increasing my meditation time and changing up my morning routine a bit. My goal is no social media or work, just redlight/meditation, journaling, and a mini-walk or something out doors.

 And I am gonna stick to that for now. I also want to be more consciously aware of my thoughts. I am a very positive person, but lately I am noticing that I am just feeling more negative than usual and I don’t like it.

Maybe you relate to the above, maybe you don’t. But I think we can ALL use a reminder as to the fact that WE actually matter in this game of life.

Other News and things:

  1. New favorite show is Shrinking: a show on Apple+. I am legit loving it!! Jason Segel is one of my favorite actors so if you are looking for a good one, start it!! Tell me what you think!
  2. I am moving again… this time next door to a bigger apartment! My boyfriend and I are moving in together, which I am super excited about! It will be my first time ever living with a significant other.
  3. I have been sleeping on the couch the last 4 Days because my mom is here, and I feel like a zombie 🧟‍♀️
