Today, we're diving into a topic that's close to my heart...

Facing Challenges Head-On

Have you ever felt like you absolutely nailed something, only to receive feedback that leaves you questioning your own abilities? That's exactly what happened to me recently when I gave a speech at Purdue University in front of 2,000 students. The speech, which I believed was inspiring and impactful, didn't align with the expectations of the team that rated it a 3 out of 10.

It's an odd feeling when you put your heart and soul into something, and it doesn't quite hit the mark. But hey, that's part of life, right? We all face moments of self-doubt, and we all encounter obstacles. The key is how we deal with them.

What I Did to Bounce Back?

I turned to my "What if it all goes right" mindset to navigate this situation:

πŸ‘‰ Acknowledge Your Feelings: It's okay to feel disappointed, angry, and upset when things don't go as planned. It's part of the human experience. Embrace those feelings, but don't let them define you.

πŸ‘‰ Focus on What You Can Control: While I couldn't redo the talk, I could take control of my future performances. I started by asking even more in-depth questions before speaking engagements to better understand the organizers' expectations. Then, I provide them with a detailed outline and confirmation to ensure we're on the same page.

πŸ‘‰ Embrace the Process: Remember, setbacks are part of the journey to becoming the best version of yourself. Adversity can be a powerful teacher. Use these moments to learn and grow as a speaker, athlete, or whatever you're passionate about.
