I’m not good at goodbyes.
This week, something I was really looking forward to came to a close and even though my gut felt it coming, it still stung when it happened.
But before I get into that, let’s rewind.
This week, I finally leaned into something I’ve been resisting for months: cold outreach.
Wild, right? I’ve spoken in front of thousands. I thrive on stage. But hitting send on an email to someone I don’t know… that felt like a mountain.
Still, I did it.
With 1% courage and a few funny subject lines, I hit send, and the responses poured in.
I even landed spots on several speaker bureau websites and booked meetings just days later. Why? Because I showed up. I asked. I let go of the pressure for a yes and embraced the power of the no.
My client Amrutha had the best mindset shift: “My goal is to get 100 no’s.” And suddenly, outreach felt less scary. Less personal. More like practice.
So… where in your life do you need to swing, even if you miss?
Is it reaching out to someone who inspires you?
Following up with a potential client?
Joining that program or class you’ve been putting off?
You either move forward or stay exactly where you are.
Just 48 hours later, I was hosting another Pull-Up Workshop. I usually love these. I pour everything into them—motivation, strategy, support.
But this time? The vibe felt off.
The energy was low. Someone sent a nasty email. A few people called my program “too expensive.”
It stung. For a moment, I felt devalued.
But then I reminded myself:
The right people see the value. The rest? Aren’t your people.
And then the high came back: I met Amrutha in person. I was feeling confident, in motion, surrounded by close friends for dinner and deep convos. That night filled my cup again.
On Friday, something harder happened. Someone I had gotten really close to was suddenly… gone (not dead lol) but decided there was not a future.
Another goodbye. Another unexpected ending.
And if I’m honest? I take these hard. I always imagine the people in my life will be there forever. So when a chapter closes, it hits deep.
But this time, instead of spiraling, I slowed down. I sat with the discomfort. I used my own RIGHT Framework:
R – Recognize & Feel (Sad. Let down. A little lost.)
I – Identify What You Can Control (My response. My healing. My growth.)
G – Game Plan (Lean on my people. Focus on what’s next.)
H – Hold the Adaptable Mindset (This isn’t the end, it’s a redirection. There has to be an amazing man out there for me)
T – Take Delusional Action (Keep showing up, still keep an open heart, even if my heart’s still healing.)
Right after it happened, I kept my commitment: a walk with my friend Giselle to see the bats fly under the bridge in Austin.
She didn’t know the situation, which made her advice even more refreshing. That walk? Exactly what I needed.
Here’s what I know: Every relationship has a purpose.
Some are meant to last a lifetime. Others are meant to teach you something quickly and then fade. Some arrive to stretch you, open you up, or show you what you don’t want. And that’s still a gift.
Even if something didn’t last forever, there was purpose in it. There was growth. There was joy. There was healing. There was awareness.
So if you’re grieving something ending, remember: It still mattered. It still shaped you. And you are better because of it. I will always remember the good memories, laughs, phone calls
Maybe it didn’t end the way you thought it would. But maybe it ended exactly when it needed to.
Use Your 1% Courage
Send the message. Start the thing. You don’t need 100%—you just need to begin.
Let the No’s Be Practice
You’re not losing. You’re refining. Rejection is part of mastery.
Feel It, Then Move It
Don’t bypass your feelings. Let them move through you—and take action anyway.
Redefine Value
The people who get it? Are your people. You don’t need to convince anyone.
Honor the Ending
Not everything is meant to last forever. But everything can mean something.
