I am a 6x American Ninja Warrior, 3x Cover Girl, Miss Fitness America 2016, and creator of Pull-up Revolution that has helped hundreds of women conquer their first pull-up! It’s wild with all the titles I have just mentioned, you would think that I feel amazing and like the best version of myself all the time, right? Like the accomplishments and titles are full of confidence, power, & success. But the truth is… a lot of times I don’t feel that way…a lot of times I feel like I am still not enough or like I still don’t actually matter… now I know that sounds morbid, but the truth is your mind can play a ton of tricks on you. It can get caught in the comparison trap of not feeling like you will ever be enough, when you, in fact, are enough and MORE than enough

So when we are having a super DOWN day where you feel like things are falling apart what do you do? Especially when you have to show up as that “confident” version of yourself. Maybe it’s a meeting? Maybe it’s just showing up for your kids? Or for me, it was speaking on a stage to hundreds of people, telling them my story even when I wasn’t really feeling like I was having “the best day”.

The answer… is that YOU can have control and shift how you feel! But it takes some practice to channel it!

So here’s what I do and maybe it will help you too!

And to be honest we actually use this in my pull-up revolution program to help women to keep showing up because learning a pull-up can be TOUGH! 

Step 1️⃣: Picture a Time where you DID feel powerful

We ALL have had moments in life for some reason or another we DID feel powerful, we felt confident and things WHERE going their way! When was the last time for you? How did it FEEL!? Get super clear on that picture, sink into how it felt, where you were, who you were with! SMILE as you picture this and paint vivid detail! 

MAYBE for some reason you can’t think of a moment right now? That’s okay! Instead PRETEND… that you are feeling powerful! Get super clear on this! 

Step 2️⃣: Shake it OUT! 

Wild, I am in the middle of training my dog right now and the dog trainer told me that animals (dogs etc) shake their entire body to “reset” their nervous system so they can “shake out” if they are feeling any stress or anxiety. It works the SAME way for humans! So put on your favorite song for 1 minute and SHAKE it out! We make women do this in our pull-up program before they attempt their unassisted pull-up! FIRST picturing the most powerful version of themselves and THEN shaking it out reset and really get in that moment! 

Step 3️⃣: Create a Word, a Sound or Smell that will always remind you of this state 

It might be a CLAP! It might be a SNAP! It might be the smell of a chapstick you have! But every time you do this exercise I want you to relate it to something! (yes, we are literally training you like a dog now! Haha, but it works! 

Step 4️⃣: Show up at this version of yourself 

Even if you DON”T believe it just yet… that’s okay! Just like an animal it’s going to take you repeating this a few times until suddenly you are able to snap into this version of yourself EVEN when you aren’t feeling great and you aren’t believing it just quite yet! 

Anyways I share this with you because lately I have had some doubt inside me… I forget that I have had some really big moments and that I am STILL that person. And this was a reminder.. That I DID do some really hard things and the things I am working through now are NO different… I can and will achieve my goals… it WILL take time… it WILL be hard… but I can in fact do it and SO CAN YOU!
