WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Katherine

warrior of the week Jun 24, 2021

"Once I was able to find a program that I could do on my own and do at my own pace, that really spoke to me."

Katherine is a mom of two teenage girls from Miami, FL and works as a genetic counselor at a children’s hospital. Pre-pandemic, she lived a pretty active lifestyle, but tended to push herself a little too far and aggravate her sciatica and herniated disc, and it was a lot of starting and stopping. During the pandemic, she had a lot more time on her hands, started following my workouts on Women’s Health, and then joined my Core Revolution program, and it was through my core program that she realized that the recurring issue with her back was because her core was not as strong as it should have been. She then joined my Strong Feels Good program, which was a perfect fit for her: it allowed her to go at her own pace while still maintaining the social aspect of exercising that she loved without the pressure of having to “keep up” with others or the...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Leontien

warrior of the week Jun 18, 2021

“It really feels like a family.”

Our Warrior of the Week, all the way from the Netherlands is Leontien! Leontien works in biomedical research for cancer and neurological illnesses like Alzheimer’s.

Leontien has been with me for almost an entire year, and she prefers to workout early in the morning before she heads into the city for work, because it actually wakes her up and energizes her, but without the right mindset, early morning workouts can be hard to maintain. She also is an avid runner who was training for a half marathon and never really stopped training even though the event was cancelled. She loves spending the hour and a half of her run by herself surrounded by nature (except for the deer!).

Leontien really loves the Strong Feels Good community, and how even though its members are located all over the world, it feels like a family where everyone supports one another. She also loves the variety of the program, how it targets different muscle...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Zoe

warrior of the week Jun 11, 2021

“In terms of mental health, it’s fantastic. It really has helped me.”

Our Warrior of the Week, all the way from the UK is Zoe! Zoe works from home as a legal secretary, and she’s been working out off and on since 2016. She did find some workout programs to do, but found that she tended to stick with the exercises she liked and felt comfortable with, and as a result, would do the same thing over and over again. She found me through Women’s Health and really resonated with some of the things I was saying about wrist injuries and strengthening exercises (something which is NOT talked about enough among trainers!)

On days where Zoe feels tired (we all have those days!), the struggle might feel pretty real, but after being consistent for so long, something comes from somewhere that pushes you to keep going, and once you do it, you feel great! Sometimes the hardest thing to do is just get started, but once you do, you’re so glad you did.

Zoe loves...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Patti

warrior of the week Jun 04, 2021

“I feel lighter. My clothes fit a little bit better. In general, my body feels cleaner.”

Patti is from Oklahoma City and has been with me since February of 2020 (pre-pandemic)! She started in my Pull-Up Revolution program. Prior to starting my programs, she never really did a ton of strength and tended to piece together random workouts she found online. She tended to stick to “leg day,” and ignored training her arms. One day she decided that she wanted to learn how to do a pull-up.

Patti is pretty good at working out on her own, but really benefits from having accountability through TrueCoach and having a safe space to post her progress in the facebook group. She’s found a great balance in Strong Feels Good of the “leg day” she loves while also strengthening and toning her upper body. As a runner, the strength workouts have improved her running form and made her a better runner! She feels lighter, her clothes are fitting better, and her body...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Jennifer

warrior of the week May 28, 2021

“Incorporating mindset and nutrition, and implementing those two components into it really made such a huge difference.”

Jennifer is a registered nurse who works with geriatric patients. She is a mother of two and lives in Wilmington, Delaware. Jennifer has been working out her whole life and has always had a passion for fitness. For Jennifer, fitness helps relieve stress and is an integral part of her daily routine. Jennifer went to the gym regularly until covid hit and her gym closed. She found me through Women’s Health and started following my online workouts. She started out in my Pull-Up program because despite feeling fit and feeling like she was in shape, she couldn’t do a pull-up. She reached her goal and can still do two pull-ups despite being in her 50s (you’re a rockstar, Jennifer!)

Jennifer recently found out that she has osteoporosis despite living such a healthy lifestyle, and so continuing her fitness journey is extra important to her to...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Andrea

warrior of the week May 21, 2021

“What I really needed was accountability… I knew I really needed something and someone to make sure I stayed accountable, and this was perfect for that.”

Jersey girl Andrea is from Randolph, NJ and a mother of two and a pharmaceutical executive. Andrea’s family is an active one: they work out together, and they stay active during vacations with hiking, biking, and white water rafting. Her job is pretty sedentary, and she has a long commute to work. Pre-pandemic, she tried pilates, crossfit, and Orange Theory, but when the pandemic started and the gyms closed, she realized she needed something else. She saw my workouts on Women’s Health and as a big ANW fan, she really connected with me. She started my Full Body Revolution program and then joined my Strong Feels Good program.

Andrea loves the accountability that SFG gives her. She and her accountability buddy message each other every day to keep each other accountable. Her favorite part of the SFG...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Maria

warrior of the week May 14, 2021

“Now I’m strong. I’ve never been strong before. I feel it, I know it, and it’s a completely different state of mind.”

Maria is originally from Slovakia but currently lives in Luxembourg. She has been pretty active since her 20s, participating in sports, going to the gym, and doing classes. She started working with a personal trainer before covid hit and then she was unable to continue. She found Angela’s pull-up program and felt inspired to join and get her pull-up. She also got the Core Revolution program and was blown away by how effective it was, and just how wrong her technique was before.

With the strict lockdown rules in Luxembourg, the mindset portion of Strong Feels Good was life-changing, and now truly tries to get the best out of each day. Even people around her are noticing her optimism and joy. She has made friends from across the world though the Strong Feels Good program and found a deeper meaning and joy to fitness beyond more...

WARRIOR OF THE WEEK: Meghan

warrior of the week May 07, 2021

“I don’t have to settle with what was given to me or what happened to me. I can change it. It’s in my control. This is teaching me how to take my life back.”

This week’s Warrior of the Week is Meghan! Meghan is the TRUE definition of a warrior, so grab those tissues when you listen to her story (especially the end)! Meghan first stumbled upon my programs when she was rehabbing a torn ACL, and if you know anything about me, I tore my ACL TWICE, and you know what my physical therapist told me? I needed a stronger core. So Meghan decided to join my Core Revolution program to work on strengthening her core to help heal her ACL. She realized how weak she was, and couldn’t even do a v-in. Now? She can do several v-ins. When recovering from her injury, she couldn’t jog, and now she can. She can do push-ups on her toes.

The Strong Feels Good program has really helped her stay committed and to really put herself and her health first. When Meghan...

Everything you need to know about Candlesticks

If I had a dollar for the amount of times people told me they have a hard time with candlesticks then I would be a rich lady.

This is NOT an easy movement but its SUCH a good one not only for your glutes but for that core!

The Form

  • Starting standing tall
  • Sit straight down and allow your legs to rise up the ceiling
  • Swing those legs down and bend them so your feet land right above your butt cheeks on the floor
  • Lean forward and stand up! Rinse and repeat!

Hardest part people have is standing up! A LOT of this can be due to hip mobility so make sure you get a GOOD warm-up before starting

Few things that are SUPER helpful with this:

  1. Pretend like you are going to do a forward roll
  2. Just go up as to as high as you can and lift your butt a little off the gorund
  3. Grab onto a buddy on the way up
  4. Use a coach to increase the height you are rolling from so that you can get the idea...
